Zero Waste Festival: Engaging the Public to “Go Zero to be a Hero”

On November 30 2022, GREEN Hospitality (Pangaia Solutions Limited) held the Zero Waste Festival at the Central Market under the ‘Zero-Waste to Landfill for the F&B industry’ project with the funding support of the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF)*. The event aimed at raising community awareness of zero-waste living, MSW charging scheme, and showcasing the solutions and services already available in Hong Kong.

Under the theme “Go Zero to be a Hero”, the Zero Waste Festival Celebrated the segregation, reduction, and recycling effort of the 20 F&B outlets who participated in our "Zero-waste to Landfill for the F&B Industry: Creating Circular Systems Through Education, Practice & Partnerships" project. Funded by the ECF, the project was designed to help F&Bs adapt to Municipal Solid Waste Charging, expected to come into effect in Hong Kong next year.

Moreover, the Zero Waste Festival engaged the general public by demonstrating educational posters and videos, and organising interactive workshops to learn about packaging decomposition and the colours of recycling bins, guess the weight of waste, and compete in waste segregation.

We thank everyone for participating and contributing to Hong Kong’s waste reduction journey!
