Virtual Internship Program: Get to Know About Our Team-Bonding Sessions

Are you passionate about sustainability and environmental protection in the hospitality industry? Then you may be interested in G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality’s “Virtual Internship and Volunteering Program”. For students at The University of Hong Kong, the internship also provides a chance to earn credits through its integration with the Impact Lab course (BUSI2812).

With the goal to support young, talented, and responsible leaders through the management of G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality, the internship is carefully built for the self-development of students, providing them with various learning opportunities in diverse fields based on their interests, and team-building opportunities to help them develop communication skills, team spirit, social networking skills, and confidence-building that are essential to navigating the future landscape of work.

Over the last 2 years, 40 students have been a part of this program, gaining deep insights about sustainability in hospitality businesses. As a part of the internship, G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality organized several team-bonding sessions, which included online games, a session with Soap Cycling as well as a movie screening.

In the several team-building sessions, each member of the G.R.E.E.N. Team participated in games, asked each other questions and interacted on a more personal basis. The ice-breaking games created a comfortable atmosphere that allowed the interns to build long-lasting relationships with each other, while the hearty sharing sessions let the interns express themselves in a work environment and let go of inhibitions. Furthermore, the interns also built mutual understanding so that the team could work towards a common goal by the end of the team-building activities.

G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality also organised educational visits and movie screenings for the interns as a chance for participating in activities that are slightly distinct from normal work-related tasks. Such events introduced a new format for the same information, encouraging higher workability and productivity among interns. The Soap Cycling warehouse visit, for example, proved to be a fun, refreshing experience where interns could spend more time with each other in a new environment and understand each other’s personalities better. The visit also gave them a chance to understand how other non-profit organisations work to spread awareness about sustainability in hospitality businesses.

G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality would like to extend a note of appreciation to all the interns that have worked with the team and actively contributed in making the company what it is today. G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality is supporting the professional development of new leaders in the sustainability field, and hopes to inspire students about a sustainable future through our internship program. We sincerely hope that the program is a rewarding and meaningful experience for all those that join the G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality family.
